SheThePeople 40 Over 40 Awards Delhi: Meet The Winners

After a successful run of its Mumbai Edition 2024, SheThePeople marked yet another 40 Over 40 Awards, this time in Delhi on July 11. 40 Over 40 acknowledges women who have touched numerous lives with their impactful work, challenging existing dynamics and ushering in a positive change in their fields of choice. Their work, past and present, needs to be celebrated, as they not only brought their unique gaze to their field but also encouraged other women to follow their dreams by helping them overcome inhibitions of age, gender, and other social stigmas. 

With 40 Over 40, SheThePeople puts the spotlight on women who have taken the leap of faith, once they’ve crossed forty, to chase their dreams, go for the jugular, and become super achievers. Speaking at the event, Shaili Chopra, founder of SheThePeople and Gytree expressed, "We have got to change the way we think about women. That's how the idea of SheThePeople went from being a website or social media handle to a movement. I believe that the reason SheThePeople stands out today is that we believe in sisterhood."

Chopra asserted, "We went from being an India-first platform to a global community of conversations because women said, 'I'm changing the way we see sisterhood. I'm part of it, I'm sharing it, and I'm paying it forward.' That is the most important reason why when we think of ideas, events, or communities, we try to see what stereotype we can break."

Akanksha Singh

Akanksha Singh describes herself as a 'jewellery designer by profession and a shuffle dancer by fate'. In 2020, when the world was exploring new skills during the lockdowns, Singh found her calling in shuffle dancing. Today, the mom-of-two is a dance instructor and content creator with over 705,000 followers on Instagram. Singh, 43, emphasises the value of stepping out of your comfort zone, no matter what your age. She also swears by the impact of staying fit not only for physical health but also for mental wellness.

Amrita Thakur

In the landscape of style and design, Amrita Thakur is a force to be reckoned with. She founded her eponymous label in 2011, bringing a fresh, vibrant perspective to the fashion industry. The celebrity-favoured style curator and content creator is known for her chic designs that seamlessly blend comfort and glamour. Beyond her professional achievements, Thakur is also a fitness and adventure sports enthusiast and a mother.

Anavila Misra

Anavila Misra is the founder of a sustainable fashion brand that weaves together the beauty of grassroots arts with contemporary design sensibilities. Her work is the result of her vast experience working with revered textile brands and a developmental project with the Ministry of Rural Development. Misra has travelled to various parts of India, particularly in the rural regions, enhancing her understanding and appreciation of traditional crafts, which she seamlessly incorporates into her designs.

Dr Anjali Kumar

Obstetrician-gynecologist and surgeon Dr Anjali Kumar is a renowned figure not only in the medical world but also as a content creator. With over three decades of experience in her field, she is the founder of the digital women's health platform Maitri. Dr Kumar combines her expertise in women's health with content that empowers her social media followers on various health and wellness topics. She not only educates her audience but also opens healthy discussions on culturally taboo topics like sexual health, contraceptives, menstruation, etc. 

Anjum Chopra

Anjum Chopra is a celebrated figure in Indian cricket, known for her significant strides as a cricketer and sports analyst. The 47-year-old's journey as the former captain of the Indian Women's Cricket Team, a commentator, and also a corporate consultant showcases her team-leading acumen beyond the bounds of a pitch or a boardroom. Breaking new grounds in the male-dominated world of sports and leadership, Anjum Chopra has become a trailblazer, inspiring countless young women to pursue their dreams with determination and excellence. 

Anjum Vaid

With a career in broadcasting and digital media spanning about two decades, Anjum Vaid has carved a niche for herself in the industry. Currently the Director of AdTech (Business Head) at MakeMyTrip, she has displayed her prowess in strategic leadership, business development, and financial acumen. Not just that, Vaid also contributes to the upliftment of underprivileged children and women beyond philanthropic efforts. She is also a self-defence instructor and yoga enthusiast, creating a balance between fitness, mental wellness, and personal growth.

Anuja Mishra

Anuja Mishra is a marketing professional who has made an impact in globally acclaimed companies. She has been the Chief Marketing Officer of Honasa Consumer (the parent company of Mamaearth, BBlunt, and more) since 2022. Mishra has been passionately developing and expanding modern, digital-first brands targeting millennials and Gen Z in the beauty and personal care turf. Beyond her professional endeavours, the single mom-to-a-teen is a marathoner and an adventure sports athlete, always up for a new challenge. 

Anupriya Kapur

Anupriya Kapur is a multifaceted content creator who specialises in diverse content from fitness and travel to motherhood and 'relatable fashion'. Her versatile and holistic approach not only engages her followers but also empowers them with practical advice and inspirational stories. From moments of self-doubt to facing derogatory remarks from trolls, the 42-year-old single mom addresses the lesser Instagram-worthy moments of her life with an authenticity that resonates with a large audience. 

Archana Jain

Archana Jain is a seasoned communications specialist and the founder of PR Pundit, a women-led brand management firm. With over three decades of experience, she has orchestrated numerous successful campaigns that resonate deeply with both brands and their target audiences. Jain is building a network of women leaders promoting empowerment and encouragement to break the bounds of creativity and imagination in the communication and brand management industry. 

Dr (Major) Gurveen Waraich Garekar

Dr (Major) Gurveen Waraich is not your regular dermatologist. She is also a retired Indian Army commissioned officer who received her MBBS certification from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and M.D. Dermatology from Command Hospital Air Force, Bangalore. She also creates educational social media content about skincare and cosmetic treatments. Her approach to skin health encompasses not just surface aesthetics but also underlying factors such as nutrition, hydration, environment, and personalized treatment plans tailored to individual concerns. 

Fouzia Dastango

In 2006, Fouzia Dastango was completely mesmerised by a Dastangoi performance at a college in Delhi. Being fond of arts and drama, she later went on to become India's first female Dastango. Growing up in a lower-middle-class family, she worked as a lecturer for a few years before delving into her passion for the ancient Urdu storytelling art form. Fouzia's performances are inspired by the stories she grew up listening to from the women in her family. She uses her passion for Dastangoi to address social causes and women's perspectives.

Gargi Rawat

Gargi Rawat is a distinguished news anchor and the author of Tiger Season, an exploration of tiger conservation and overall wildlife welfare in India. Passionate about environmental reporting, her work in media, spanning over two decades, not only informs but also inspires action. Rawat pioneered India's first wildlife news program, Born Wild, and served as the anchor for its Hindi counterpart, Safari India, on NDTV. Moreover, she has been the editorial head for some of the best-known environmental campaigns carried out by the channel. 

Garima Avtar

Blazing trails in the male-dominated world of motorsports, Garima Avtar is one of India's first female extreme rally drivers. She is also a golfer, trained classical singer, journalist, award-winning content creator, podcaster, and TEDx speaker. Avtar has won several autocross events like the Indian National Rally Championships, the Raid De Himalaya, and more. She has also led teams of women drivers on an expedition to the challenging Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh.

Gazal Bajaj

As the head of media management at Nestlé, Gazal Bajaj boasts a wealth of experience in ideating and executing comprehensive brand campaigns. With over 17 years of experience in integrated media planning, strategic market communication, and regional engagement, she has significantly contributed to enhancing the engagement of various renowned brands across diverse media platforms. Bajaj's innovative approach and keen understanding of market dynamics have positioned her as a leader in the marketing industry.

Geeta Basra

Geeta Basra's work as a model and actress has captivated many. Known for her roles in Bollywood films like Dil Diya Hai and The Train, she continues to engage and inspire her audience through her diverse social media content. Offering a peek into her life with her children and husband, ace cricketer Harbhajan Singh, Basra showcases her vibrant personality and multifaceted interests. Gul Panag

After about 16 years in the corporate world, Harpreet Suri embarked on a new journey as a 'mompreneur' in the world of luxury fashion and a TEDx speaker. The award-winning content creator, who goes by MomWearsPrada online, does not allow stereotypes of motherhood or content creation to define her. Her balanced approach to family and work is the result of her dedication to redefining her life and career to find a niche that allows her to integrate her passions and responsibilities seamlessly.

Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah

Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah is the CEO of Lucknow Farmers Market, a 'pan-India sustainable online community' that supports agriculturalists and rural, grassroots, and start-up entrepreneurs. The purpose of this mission is to foster organic farming and sustainability to create a positive impact on the environment and farmers. Habibullah, an MBA graduate of Bayes Business School, is also a social entrepreneur and TEDx speaker who combines her business acumen with a deep commitment to social impact.

Jyotsana Singh Kaushik 

A highly experienced marketing and communications professional, Jyotsana Singh Kaushik is the Director of Marketing & PR at Volvo Cars India. With a career spanning over 20 years, she boasts a proven track record in crafting compelling innovative marketing, brand strategy, experiential, B2B & B2C, PR and communications strategies. Kaushik has previously worked with leading brands like Horlicks and Canara HSBC, building a robust portfolio.

Manisha Khungar

Growing up, studying, and working in over six countries, Manisha Khungar has cultivated a unique perspective shaped by diverse cultural experiences. She serves as a member of the Corporate Partnerships Office at Plaksha University, where she focuses on building communities and nurturing relationships with corporations and students. When not at work, Khungar dedicates her time to promoting wellness as a fitness consultant and a certified coach. 

Meenal Kotak 

Finishing 680-plus km in about 144 hours, ultrarunner Meenal Kotak recently set the record for India at a marathon held in Milwaukee, United States. Her journey started in 2014 when a treadmill run made her realise her impeccable stamina and running capability. Soon, she ran the Delhi Half Marathon and since then, she has never looked back. Kotak's achievement not only reflects her athleticism but also her years of unwavering dedication and discipline.

Namita Bhandare

Namita Bhandare is a seasoned journalist who is known for her insightful reporting on gender issues, social justice, and human rights in India. With a keen eye for uncovering compelling, intersectional stories on workplace gaps, digital economy, health, law and justice, she has made an indelible mark in the country's media landscape. In 2013, she was appointed as the gender editor of the publication, Mint, where she pioneered profound narratives on gender issues. She is now a freelancer and a columnist with organisations such as Hindustan Times and IndiaSpend. 

Neeti Palta 

One of the most accomplished stand-up comedians in the country, Palta has worn many professional hats. In her entertainment career spanning almost 15 years, she has represented India at several international comedy festivals across the globe. Palta holds the honour of being one of 24 comedians across Asia to be featured on Comedy Central Asia. She was the judge on one of India’s biggest comic talent hunt shows, Comicstaan, and also has a comedy special to her name, Almost Sanskari on Amazon Prime.

Nimrat Kaur

Nimrat Kaur is a globally acclaimed actor who captivates audiences with her versatility and compelling performances. She is known for her nuanced portrayals in both Bollywood and international productions. Be it the poignant role of Ila in The Lunchbox or the humourous charm she brought to Inspector Bela Barot in Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video, Kaur immerses herself in diverse narratives, embodying endless talent and an unmatchable dedication to her craft.

Parul Garg

Makeup artist and instructor Parul Garg has magic in her hands. Her artistry and skill can accentuate the beautiful features of her clients, leaving them feeling their absolute best. With a deft touch and a keen eye for detail, Garg highlights the natural and individual charm of Indian brides and models. As an instructor, she imparts technical skills and the art of understanding and interpreting each client's desires. 

Parul Tyagi

Parul Tyagi is a marketing professional with 13 years of experience in consumer marketing, brand management and strategy, trade marketing and sales. She is presently the Assistant Vice President of Marketing at Birla Fertility & IVF. Previously, she has also worked with leading companies such as Unilever and Dabur, where she drove profitable growth and strengthened the core business through repositioning, new communication and re-branding.

Priyanka Sahgal Mehta 

Priyanka Sahgal Mehta is a long-distance runner and coach who has dedicated many years of her life to the sport. The former private banker started running to improve her fitness and quickly fell in love with the challenge and exhilaration it brought. Mehta consistently seeks greater challenges in her quest for personal and athletic growth. She is a member of a running group called Runbugs, where she fosters community spirit and encourages fellow enthusiasts to achieve their goals.

Radhika Bharat Ram

Radhika Bharat Ram is the joint vice chairperson of The Shri Ram Schools and founder of the KARM Fellowship for Young Indian Women. With a vision for social impact, she works towards making education accessible and inclusive for various sections of society. She is also dedicated to community service and is associated with various organisations like the Blind Relief Association, Delhi Crafts Council, HelpAge India, and more. Her diverse portfolio showcases her commitment to addressing community needs across different sections of society. 

Rama Vaidyanathan

Rama Vaidyanathan is one of the most respected Bharatanatyam dancers of her generation. She has been performing the classical dance form for over four decades and has blended it with her own artistic style. She has also performed on several international stages, earning acclaim from revered connoisseurs. She has been teaching Bharatnatyam for over 35 years and has conducted workshops and master classes in India and abroad.

Reeti Sahai

Reeti Sahai is a record-setting athlete, content creator, and entrepreneur who has been running marathons for over a decade. She has twice participated in the Boston Marathon and has also shone at various other local and international athletic events. A few years ago, Sahai quit her corporate career to wholeheartedly dedicate herself to her passion for sports. She has now established a growing community of over 200 active runners.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra 

As the chairperson of HCL Technologies and a philanthropist, Roshni Nadar Malhotra has established herself as one of the richest women in India. The billionaire businesswoman broke the glass ceiling as the first woman in India to lead a listed tech company. The graduate of Kellogg School of Management is one among one of the Forbes World's 100 Most Powerful Women. Beyond professional feats, she is also a trained classical musician and a mom of two.

Simi Chadha 

Simi Chadha is a model, content creator, fitness trainer, and mother. Defying barriers and age norms, Chadha started working as a fitness instructor in her 40s and started training for callisthenics at the age of 50. She is also known for her eclectic style and infectiously enthusiastic spirit which has earned her a huge following on social media. While she has already achieved multiple remarkable feats, she believes she has plenty of fitness and life goals to look forward to.

Simran Lal 

Coming from an admired business family, Simran Lal's spark for entrepreneurship was ignited through her upbringing, where she witnessed firsthand the dynamics of running an empire. This led her to channel her business acumen and legacy as the CEO of Good Earth, a brand that preserves the beauty of India's heritage art and crafts. Sumaya Dalmia

Sumaya Dalmia is a sports scientist and celebrated health influencer who discovered her passion for sports early on, diving into the world of fitness back in 1997. Dalmia has an MSc in Sports Science and multiple certifications from The American College of Sports Medicine— including Pilates, Pre and Postnatal fitness, Sports performance, kettlebell training, and exercise mechanics. Sunaina Anand

Sunaina Anand has worked as an art curator and historian since 1988 and is the founder and director of Art Alive Gallery, which she has been meticulously running since 2001. Over the last two decades, she has consistently worked for the development of India's art sector, promoting visual arts and other contemporary mediums while also preserving traditional arts. Anand is also one of the founding trustees of The Partition Museum Library and one of the founding organizers of Delhi Art Week.

Suparna Handa

Suparna Handa is the Managing Director of the luxury home decor brand Sarita Handa, named after her mother and the founder of the brand. The brand which started in 1992 curates timeless and trendy collections of home furnishings and decor items that not only appeal to the contemporary consumer but also restores textiles and craftsmanship rooted in Indian heritage. Suparna Handa is a business management graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and joined the enterprise in 1994.

Vandana Mohan

Vandana Mohan is one of the first women in India to become a wedding planner and event manager. Initially drawn to modelling and TV hosting in college, she later ventured into documentary filmmaking and production. However, Mohan then found her calling in events and entrepreneurship and started her company in 1989. Despite having no backing in business and consequently battling several challenges in the male-dominated field, Mohan has now emerged as a leader in the industry.

Vasudha Rai 

Who doesn't love good skin? Vasudha Rai has come to be known as a celebrated 'skinfluencer' who not only promotes products or shares skincare tips but also emphasizes holistic wellness and the cultural significance of beauty rituals. She is the author of the audiobook The Book of Holistic Beauty-- A 360° Approach To Skincare, where she has documented her decades of research and expertise in nurturing skin. She has also written Glow and Ritual, where she explores Indian nutrition and practices for beauty.

Vidya Shah

Vidya Shah is a versatile singer known for her deep-rooted connection to traditional Indian music forms like thumri, dadra, and ghazal. She effortlessly weaves through classical and contemporary musical forms, bringing a unique blend of authenticity and innovation to her performances. She also incorporates storytelling into her performances, making her music not just a sonic experience but also a cultural journey.
