Shivangi Shah and Desiree Pereira

Shivangi Shah, Desiree Pereira with Lakshay Mohindroo co-founded Disguise Cosmetics, an Indian makeup brand in the year 2018. The three founders are scientists who met each other while working at L’Oreal. They noticed a lack of Indian brands in the beauty industry and wanted to create makeup products that are safe, vegan, and cruelty-free. Shivangi Shah has a background in beauty industry research and Desiree Pereira is a biotech engineer with experience in the personal care sector. 

With command in their respective fields, they launched their cruelty-free, paraben-free, PETA-approved makeup brand with products designed for all types of Indian skin tones. Disguise Cosmetic built its online presence through Instagram and blogs where it shared stories, tutorials, and information about its products, enhancing its brand awareness.

Parul Gulati is an actress, model, and entrepreneur from Rohtak, Haryana. She launched her brand called Nish Hair in 2017 where she sells hair extensions that are made from 100% human hair that is hand-selected and stitched. She started her brand with the vision to create high-quality, affordable products for people struggling with hair loss issues due to the environment, pollution, or extreme conditions like cancer and alopecia.

The brand claims to be born out of a woman's dream, passion, and love for hair. She curated content on her social media platforms that helped people recognize her work and products like tutorials, customer feedback, and new and stylish product launches. Parul Gulati sets an inspiring example as a successful women entrepreneur who used the Internet and Social Media tools to expand her brand’s digital presence. 

Dr. Charu Sharma

Dr. Charu, has over 19 years of experience in treating skin and hair conditions, and co-founded Cureskin in 2017, an AI-driven platform that helps users detect and curate personalized care for skin conditions. The idea of utilizing AI tools in crafting a mobile application that uses photo analysis to offer personalized solutions, dermatologist-prescribed solutions, guidance, and follow-ups is a revolutionary step in the beauty industry. Cureskin aims to create accessible dermatologist expertise with the power of AI. By the year 2024, the brand secured Series B Funding of $20M, to scale high-quality customized solutions.

Prasanthy is an engineer who has previously worked with the Indian Navy, and founded a skincare brand; Daughter Earth in 2018. With the philosophy to leave the planet better than it was found, the brand empowers products that are made with plant-based bioactives, vitamins, antioxidants, and other ingredients from around the world. The brand’s products are vegan, natural, and science-backed which makes them the right and mindful choice for their customer’s skin. The brand used a social media strategy that focused on creating a community of like-minded conscious consumers. Their idea is to curate content that makes the followers feel part of a movement and not a brand.

Nikita Deshpande

Nikita Deshpande is an entrepreneur who founded a skincare brand in the year 2018 called Ilana Organics. Nikita started her research journey in beauty, skincare, and personal care in her college days. She believed that people did not know what they were putting on their skin, brands not being transparent and consumers were conditioned not to question. Seeing this as a matter of concern she started from scratch, making skincare samples in her kitchen to launching her brand in 2018. Her idea was to create a differentiator in terms of being ethical, innovative, transparent, and sustainable. Ilana Organics expanded their market awareness by sharing makeup tutorials, engaging with customers, and showcasing their products on social media which helped them amplify their brand’s voice.
