The 19-year-old athlete showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the match. Despite a challenging start where she saw her opponent level the first game at 10-10, Nithya regained her composure to secure the opening game in just 13 minutes.
In the second game, Nithya exhibited dominant play, racing to a 10-2 lead and ultimately closing out the match in 23 minutes. The SH6 category, which includes athletes with short stature who compete while standing, saw Nithya's strategic prowess and athleticism shine brightly.
Who Is Nithya Sre Sivan?
Nithya Sre Sivan began playing badminton casually with able-bodied players in 2016. By 2019, she discovered the world of para-badminton and shifted her focus to competitive play, training under coach Gaurav Khanna in Lucknow.
Her achievements in recent years highlight her dedication and skill. In October 2023, she earned two bronze medals at the Asian Para Games. Earlier, in April 2023, she secured two gold medals at the Brazil Para-Badminton International meet. In May 2022, Nithya won gold at the 1st Bahrain Para Badminton International Championships. Additionally, in December 2022, she claimed gold in the women's singles SH6 at the Peru Para-Badminton International in Lima, defeating a World silver medallist.
