Simone Biles has opened the gates for a new era in gymnastics with several skills titled after her. The  International Gymnastics Federation Code of Points states that moves are named after the first gymnast who completes them in an international competition. By 27 years old, Biles has immensely impacted the sports landscape. The seven-time Olympic medallist and world champion gymnast is recognised as the Greatest Of All Time in gymnastics. Here are five gymnastics moves named after Simone Biles, reflecting her unparalleled grace, strength, and creativity.

1. The Biles Vault

Simone Biles nailed a daring manoeuvre in the Vault event at the 2018 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. She completed a round-off entry (a somersault) with a handspring, followed by a double twist in the air-- a feat no other gymnast had achieved. The American athlete showed remarkable composure as she landed the complicated move which soon came to be known as 'The Biles Vault'.

2. The Biles Vault II

Biles has another magnificent vault routine to her name. At the 2023 World Championships, Biles ended the vault with two flips in a pike position. This move was reportedly inspired by the Soviet gymnast Natalia Yurchenko. According to reports, Biles was seen practising this skill even ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024.

3. The Biles Floor

In floor exercise, Biles introduced several unique skills including the eponymous move which she performed when she was just 16 years old. At the 2013 World Championships, she did a spectacular double twist followed by a double somersault, to end the routine with an elegant smile. With the historic floor routine, Biles proved that there is space for artistry in sports too.

4. The Biles Floor II

Another floor routine named after Biles is one that she landed in the qualification round of the 2019 World Championships. The 27-year-old performed three twists and three flips-- a unique double-triple combination that had not been seen before in gymnastics-- to captivate the audience.

5. The Biles Beam

At the 2019 World Championships, Simone Biles had achieved another skill to her name. In the balance beam routine, Biles dismounted with two twists and two flips, demonstrating her impressive acrobatic ability. This move involves superior technical prowess, focus, and balancing ability, which Biles was able to ace with seeming ease.

New 'Biles' Skill In The Making- Uneven Bars

On July 26, 2024, Simone Biles another original move in the uneven bars routine. According to the American news portal, CBS News, she could perform this at the Paris Games 2024 where the skill could potentially be named after her. With numerous moves to her name, Simone Biles has emerged as the pinnacle of gymnastics worldwide.
