But, who is Sandhya Yadav?
1. Sandhya is the incumbent chairperson of Mainpuri district panchayat representing the SP, according to ANI.
2. She will be contesting the Zila Panchayat elections from the family’s home district of Mainpuri, a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party, according to The Print.
3. Sandhya is the elder sister of former Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav and daughter of Mulayam’s older brother Abhay Yadav.
4. She became a sitting District Panchayat president in 2016 and had won the last election on a Samajwadi ticket.
5. Recently, her name was featured as the BJP candidate from Ward 18 of Ghiror in the list announced on Wednesday. Her husband Anujesh Pratap Singh had joined BJP two years ago.

6. Anujesh is confident that his wife, Sandhya would win this election comfortably, adding that their family has a stronghold in Mainpuri. “My mother, Urmila Yadav, had been MLA twice from Ghiror -- in 1993 and 1996,” said Anujesh.
7. Sandhya will be up against her nephew and former Samajwadi MP from Mainpuri, Tej Paratap Yadav. He claimed the party will treat her as an opponent.
8. In 2017, a no-confidence motion was moved against Sandhya just a week after her husband, Anujesh Yadav, who was a member of the Firozabad Zila Panchayat and was close to Shivpal Yadav, was expelled from the party. Anujesh had signed a motion against the local Zila Panchayat president, Vijay Pratap, who in turn, is a close associate of Ram Gopal Yadav. Later, the motion was withdrawn.
The election results will be announced on May 2.
