Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is all set to join BJP. Ahead of the state polls, such a switch is rather significant for BJP and a setback to Samajwadi Party but it will not have any major political repercussions as such.
Aparna Yadav is married to Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Mulayam Singh with his second wife Sadhana Gupta. They tied the knot in 2011 and have a daughter.
She contested from Lucknow Cantt assembly seat in the 2017 state assembly elections but lost to BJP's Rita Bahugana Joshi.
"Aparna Yadav, the wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav's younger son Pratik will join BJP tomorrow in the presence of Yogi Adityanath at 10 am," claimed Haryana BJP in-charge Arun Yadav in a Tweet on Tuesday.
The 'Choti bahu' will have her meetings with JP Nadda, the BJP Chief after joining the party. She has already sought a ticket from the Lucknow Cantt assembly seat as reported.
What's Aparna Yadav's story?
Aparna Yadav runs an organisation "bAware" which has been lauding BJP's initiatives and had also donated Rs 11 lakh for the Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya. "bAware" works for women's issues and shelter for cows in Lucknow.
The Choti bahu had taken a flight from Lucknow to New Delhi, yesterday evening along with UP BJP vice-president Dayashankar Singh, who is said to have acted as a bridge between Aparna Yadav and BJP.
Aparna Yadav made it to the headlines when she came into the limelight for praising PM Narendra Modi for his Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan initiative.
