Elderly Woman Dive In Thamirabarani River

Posting the video, IAS Officer Sahu wrote, "Awestruck to watch these sari-clad senior women effortlessly diving in the river Thamirabarani at Kallidaikurichi in Tamil Nadu. I am told they are adept at it as it is a regular affair. Absolutely Inspiring."

These women effortlessly dive into the water and swim seamlessly. What makes this more inspiring, apart from the age of these women, is the dress they are wearing. Unlike professional swimmers, they aren’t wearing a swimming suit, cap, or goggles. These elderly women are clad in saree as they jump into the water. According to the caption, since they take baths in the river frequently, they are quite adept at it.

The comment section was filled with appreciative comments. One user wrote, "Like born swimmers…wonderful!". "In earlier days, people used to use rivers for every purpose. Swimming is a part and parcel of their daily lives," commented another user. A third user wrote, "Super diving Amma." So far, the video has gained over 100k views and over 1.5k likes on Twitter.

"It started when I was diagnosed with severe knee and leg pain. After researching a lot about treatment, my son suggested that I start doing exercise." She said. Her son owns a gym named Madras Barbell. "I do powerlifting, squats, and other exercises with my daughter, and it has cured my pain," she added.
