Woman Risks Her Life Swimming Across Champawati River To Attend An Exam

After Kalavathi’s two brothers learned about her upcoming exam, they decided to carry her across the river, where she would be able to get a vehicle to travel to her exam.

An Andhra Pradesh woman risked her life crossing the Champawati river to attend an exam. The incident was caught on camera and the video went viral.

The 21-year-old woman crossed the Champawati river to attend an exam in Visakhapatnam, also known as Vizag, with the help of her two brothers. The two brothers carried her on their shoulders and crossed the river to reach the other side. A video of the siblings crossing the river went viral on social media.

According to sources, the Andhra Pradesh woman Taddi Kalavathi of Marrivalasa village in Gajapathinagaram Mandal works at a private company in Visakhapatnam. She had visited her native village two days ago and started her journey to Visakhapatnam on Friday to end an exam held on Saturday.

Due to heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh, several rivers such as the Champawati river were overflowing, it became risky to travel across the river and reach Visakhapatnam. Kalavathi was cut off from all modes of transport.

After Kalavathi’s two brothers learned about her upcoming exam, they decided to carry her across the river, where she would be able to get a vehicle to travel to her exam.

The woman and her two brothers crossed the river in neck-deep water and risked their lives for the exam.

In the viral video, Kalavathi and her brothers can be seen crossing the video. Kalavathi was on her brothers’ shoulders as she struggled to wade through the flowing water.

A 27-year-old woman in eastern Vidarbha's tribal district of Gadchiroli, Maharashtra was forced to deliver her baby underneath a tree due to heavy rainfall. The woman, Bharti Dorpeti went into labour but the primary health care centre was located 10 kilometres from her village.

An ambulance with primary health centre officials was on its way to pick up Dorpeti when it began raining heavily and the ambulance could not reach the pregnant woman. Dorpeti's family carried her on a cot but were unable to reach the hospital and she gave birth to her child in the middle of the forest under a tree.
