Woman Cop Carries Infant
The brewing Cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea has affected the coastal areas of Gujarat battering the lives and properties of many. Amidst the strong winds and thunderstorms, a video of a woman cop from Gujarat police carrying a 4-day-old infant to safety has gone viral.
A mother who gave birth to a newborn a few days ago in Gujarat's Barda, Dungar which was hit by "very severe" Cyclone Biparjoy was shifted to the safety of the state police. A woman police personnel can be seen carrying the newborn in her arms while the mother and other women can be seen walking behind the lady cop, taking them to safer areas.
Gujarat's Minister of Forest and Environment Muyu Ayyar Bera tweeted the video from the local news channel of the lady cop on her duty taking women and children to safety. Minister Bera represents the Bhanwad constituency in the state assembly has Tweeted the video quoting "Bhanwad's administration is vigilant to ensure security through the service."
The official Twitter handle of the Director General (DGP) of Gujarat Police also retweeted the video saying "If you are with Gujarat Police you are absolutely in safe hands."
Cyclone Biparjoy
Reportedly at least two have died while 22 are injured from the severe Cyclone Biparjoy. Hundreds of trees and electric poles were uprooted and 900 villages of the state were in complete darkness.
The intensity of Cyclone Biparjoy is reduced from "very severe" to "severe" after it made landfall in Jakhau port on the Gujarat coast, while many areas are still affected by the impact of the cyclone. A private forecasting company Skymet described the storm as "very slow moving" and "excessively strong storm", and suspected the weakening of the storm to be a slow process.
Though the cyclone has experienced a depression and now is turning into a cyclonic storm wind speed is still reported to be 80-85kmph which is severely high.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that the cyclone is slowly moving towards Rajasthan now with comparatively less severity.
Around 1,80,000 people were evacuated to safety from the coastal areas of India and Pakistan due to Cyclone Biparjoy.
