While most people shy away from admitting they went under the knife for cosmetic surgeries, a UK woman organised a "funeral" for her original nose ahead of a rhinoplasty. Sophie and her friends gathered at a restaurant with hilarious posters and party favours shaped like noses in memory of her original nose before she flew to Turkey for the surgery. In a video posted online, the atmosphere of a typical funeral was recreated as all the women were seen wearing all black and sad, mellow music played in the background.
The video of the gathering was posted to TikTok by her friend, Amy, and has now gone viral. The video has over 6.6 million views on TikTok, according to a report in Daily Star.
Funeral For A Nose?
In the video posted to Tiktok, Sophie's friend Amy said, "My friend is getting a nose job so we hosted a funeral for her old nose. We dressed in black and travelled to Hackney (London pub district) to pay our respects." The party also had decorations and games with the theme of a nose and funeral.
They played a game of 'Pin the nose', where participants would close their eyes and attempt to correctly place a cutout of a nose on a photo of Sophie. The women literally put the "fun" in 'funeral'.
The cake was plain and simple like a grocery store cake, but decorated with the words, "RIP Sophie's Nose" and had Sophie's birthday to the date of the surgery. Like in real funerals where the date of birth and date of passing are written under the person's photo, this party had Sophie's date of birth and the last date of her real nose written with icing on the cake.
Finally, the TikTok ended with Amy writing, "Good luck in Turkey, babe!" For the rhinoplasty, Sophie flew to Turkey, which has become a hot spot for cosmetic surgeries owing to the much more affordable prices than most other countries in the world. Amy's video was posted in December and has now gone viral on social media.
Watching the friends celebrate Sophie in her choice was refreshing to see, as compared to earlier days when cosmetic surgeries were looked down upon. The comments under the video too, were supportive of Sophie's decision. One user wrote, "I’ll be here patiently waiting for her recovery reveal party," while another said, "I want friends like this."
