This scarecrow at an unidentified location, donning a scarf, sweater and skirt, has a spring in its step that is anything but amusing. Makeshift contraptions make it swing around in place instead of standing stationary as scarecrows usually do.

This technology might probably be good at scaring away birds and other pests, as is its function. But going by the reactions online, it has done an even better job at scaring full-grown adults who are imagining what it would be like to walk past the dancing scarecrow at night.

Kudos to the brains behind this new bird-shooing technology that seemed so real some social media users actually had to look twice to comprehend it was not a real human. "I'm childish!! I low key was trying to figure the mechanism on this cause I thought it was a real person. I'd try it," one user wrote.

Others meanwhile, impressed with the novelty of the rural scarecrow tech, took cues for design in case they needed similar installations to keep pesky guests or midnight robbers away.

"Dress this in white and you will have scared away even thieves," a Twitter user wrote. "This is amazing! I want to install one outside my house," another said.

The number of times this 'scarehuman', as Twitter has dubbed the dancing figure, has popped on our timelines as people continue to both marvel at and fear its energy, there's no guarantee it won't come springing into our dreams tonight.
