A panel discussion on a media channel should be handled with respect, dignity, and patience. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case as many Indian news channels turn either into a platform for bigotry or into a free for all fight as soon as the camera starts rolling. Anchor Navika Kumar has once again decided to ask a “stupid question” and then reacted angrily when people don’t respond the way she wants them to.
Navika Kumar asked a guest panellist whether she should leave the country, to which he responded with "Yes". Panellist and political analyst Gokul Chandran was explaining how in Dr BR Ambedkar’s book, he described Shudras as “invaders who came from the Aryans, so Aryans are called Shudra.”
Navika Kumar became irritated and interrupted Chandran to ask, “So, we are the invaders? With your permission, can we live in this country, sir? Since you are the boss and the owner of the country, can we live in this country anymore?”
As the people say, “ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer”. Chandran responded with “No, you cannot”.
The charades continued for a couple more minutes with the anchor repeatedly asking whether she should seriously leave; meanwhile, Chandran constantly replied with affirmation. However, it only angered her and made her continue her frenzied interrogation.
She asked “Where should I go?” to which Chandran replied that she was free to go wherever she liked. That was the last straw for Kumar and she yelled “How dare you?”
Gokul Chandran responded that “You are asking a stupid question." But the pointless interaction continued with an infuriated Kumar asking him what was wrong with her question.
Guest panellist Chandran uploaded the hilarious clip on his Twitter with the caption “What wrong did I say?” Twitter responded to Chandran and praised him for his responses. A Twitter user said, “This is how it feels when someone asks to leave the country. How did it taste?”
Users described Chandran’s responses as “absolutely brilliant” and an “ultimate knockout”. They also described Chandran himself as a “legend”. Singer, songwriter, and composer Vishal Dadlani responded to the Tweet and said that the correct answer to Navika Kumari asking “Where should I go?” is “As per the Law, you should go to Jail, along with Nupur and Naveen.”
Navika Kumar trending
Navika Kumar is an anchor and the Group Editor of Times Network and Editor-in-Chief of Times Now Navbharat. She began trending as Twitter users ask for the arrest of Kumar for providing a platform for Nupur Sharma and not intervening as she made statements against Prophet Muhammad on her channel. In order to distance itself from the controversy, the channel has taken down a video of the panel.
