Viral Video: MP Girl Shot Instagram Reel On Premises Of Ujjain Temple, Received Backlash

In another incident, making of Instagram reel in place of worship has once again attracted criticism.  The issue involved girl who created Instagram videos fusing Bollywood music on the premises of the Mahakal temple in Ujjain.

A girl recorded an Instagram video on the premises of a shrine and inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Mahakal temple in Ujjain. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra took note of the event on Tuesday. "Messing with religious beliefs in any way would not be accepted", Mishra said, adding that he had given the Collector and the SP instructions to look into the situation.

The aforementioned girls recorded Instagram reels fusing Bollywood music. Social internet exploded with views of the video. The girl, who recorded the viral video reportedly did Jal abhishek at the Mahakal temple's innermost sanctorum.

When the video became viral, Mahesh Guru, the priest of Mahakal Temple, demanded action be taken against the girl, calling the video offensive and against Sanatan tradition. The other girl took the video, while wandering about the temple grounds. The priest claimed that the personnel of the Mahakal Shrine were negligent in their duties and that the sort of film "destroyed the sanctity of the temple."

It is hard to say whether such a video is offensive, defiles spiritual places aura or not. However, if people's feelings are hurt by such behaviours, then creating reels at place of worship should be avoided or permission needs to be taken for filming.

Earlier also, similar incident took place in Madhya Pradesh. The reel was shot on the temple steps on one of the hit Bollywood song Munni Badnam Hui. A First Information Report (FIR) was ordered against a girl for shooting a dance video on the premises of a temple in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.  Home Minister Narottam Mishra and Bajrang Dal took objection on the video. The girl name with four lakh followers posted the video on Instagram on October 1. However, Neha reportedly deleted it and apologized to few Bajrang Dal members, who objected to it.
