A mother’s decision to wax her 3-year-old daughter’s unibrow has netizens divided. The mother defended herself from critics by saying that she was protecting her child from future bullies.
The video was originally shared on the social media platform TikTok and shows the 31-year-old mother Leah Garcia waxing her daughter’s eyebrows. Her daughter, Bliss, said after being waxed, “Ow, mom, that hurt me”. Garcia replied, “All right, girl, now you got two eyebrows!”
Garcia had captioned the video, “I don’t care! I’d rather y’all call me a bad mom before I let my 3-year-old walk around with a unibrow unlike my parents did”.

The video was viewed more than 18.2 million times, received more than 2.5 million likes, and received more than 30,000 comments. Netizens were divided, as they acknowledged that children could be cruel and bully others about facial hair but were hesitant since the child was only 3 years old.
Users expressed their concern and said, "If she wasn't aware of her eyebrows, she sure is now". One user claimed that Garcia was "projecting" her insecurities onto her children.
Meanwhile, another commenter noted that her daughter has a moustache and "wants it gone". The user added, "This must be my sign that it's ok?" Another user wrote, "I'm a preschool teacher and see this all the time. She will thank you later."

In an interview with Today, Garcia clarified that she only shaved her children’s eyebrows with their permission. She spoke about how she was bullied as a child for her “very thick and dark eyebrows” and added that she shaved them behind her parent's backs.
Garcia said, "I'd shave behind my parents' back because my father didn't believe children should worry about things like that." In an effort to ensure her two children, Bliss and her 11-year-old sister Behautti did not suffer through the same, she began waxing their uniforms when they turned 3, with their permission.
She added that the family has 'waxing days', where she asks her children who wants to wax. Garcia said, "No one is holding down Bliss - she's not screaming in pain. It's her choice".
Garcia added that she understood where the critics were coming from but mentioned that "kids can be cruel". She said, "Waxing her unibrow isn't giving in to bullies; it's preventing them from targeting my daughter".
