Man who sang for dying mother in the viral story that made the internet emotional last week shares a public rendition of his special song, alongside touching words of tribute for his late parent.
Social media is moved once again to reach for the tissues. Soham Chatterjee, who sang on video call to his mother as she lay in the hospital during her final moments last week, has posted an emotional goodbye to her following her death. In videos posted across accounts, Chatterjee, 24, is heard singing the same song he crooned for his mother, Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi from the 1973 film Aa Gale Lag Jaa.
"Music was something that tethered me to my mother. That's how we expressed our love and respect for each other. This song is ours and will always be irrespective of validation and recognition of any magnitude. Mom knew. Or, still knows. Who knows
I love you, maa. It's really hard here without you," he wrote on Instagram alongside his tearjerking video.

"I'm sure if mom were to listen she'd have been nitty-gritty as always. Phir bhi humein gila nahi. I hope you're up there saying 'that's my kid'," he added on Twitter.
Chatterjee's story was first narrated by Dr Dipshikha Ghosh in a Twitter thread on May 12 that went massively viral. She wrote about how she had dialled the son of a woman, now identified as Sanghamitra, dying of COVID-19 and his intimate farewell to her from afar.
"He sang Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Nata Koi. I just stood there holding the phone... He broke down in the middle but finished the verse... This song is changed for us, for me at least. This song will always be theirs."
Me and the nurses stood there. We shakes our heads, our eyes moist. The nurses went back one by one to their allocated patients and attended to them or the alarms of vents/dialysis units. This song is changed for us, for me at least. This song will always be theirs.

Man Who Sang For Dying Mother Moves Netizens To Tears Once Again
Chatterjee's heartbreaking tribute to his mother has amassed thousands of likes, with many grieving for him and others who have lost loved ones grieving with him.
"We dueted this song everytime we were asked to sing at dinner parties or small concerts. She would start by humming 'la la' and I'd start with the first verse. She was my biggest critic, inspiration and singing partner," Chatterjee shared on Facebook.
"I really miss shoving your face into my chest and seeing you catch your breath for a couple of seconds, both glad that I hugged you and concerned what if I go for it again. I love you, maa. I wish you were still here," he added.
I was blessed to have had the opportunity to be there. Some moments are surreal, some memories are forever. https://t.co/7gdwqX90uE
