An Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer broke into tears during her visit to a hospital to meet patients injured in the collision between a private bus and a mini-truck in Lakhimpur Kheri. Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Dr Roshan Jacob was speaking with patients injured in the crash and their family members.
IAS officer Roshan Jacob broke into tears after she interacted with a child who was critically injured in the collision that killed at least eight people. The child was lying on his stomach on the hospital bed and was unable to move.
IAS Officer Breaks Down During Hospital Visit
In the viral video, Jacob can be heard asking the hospital staff why the patient had not been examined yet. After a staff member assured her that he had examined the patient, the IAS officer said the child was unable to move and wondered whether he suffered from a fracture.
The video showed Jacob trying to comfort the injured child and his mother. She asked that one doctor take the responsibility of helping out the child and his mother, as she would not be able to look after her child on her own.
Jacob bent down to ask him how he was as his mother cried, and wiped away her tears and went back to advocating for the injured child. She said, “He needs something, he can’t move, he seems to have got a fracture”.
The hospital staff responded that the child could be referred to another doctor, and Jacob asked whether the hospital could arrange for a doctor to come instead of the patient being forced to visit another hospital.
