A video of a girl on the Delhi metro wearing a mini skirt and a bikini has gone viral, sparking outrage. While most people have condemned her dress as immoral, some have defended her, arguing that she should not be judged for exercising her right to choose.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also commented on the issue and said that it expects users to follow social etiquette which is acceptable in society, but the choice of clothing is indeed a personal issue. The statement issued by Anuj Dayal, principal executive director, of corporate communications, DMRC, said that Metro commuters should not indulge in any activity or wear any attire which could offend the sensibilities of fellow passengers.
Fashion is subjective, so everyone has the liberty to wear anything they please. Yet, it is fairly typical for members of the public to comment on people's daring sartorial choices.
The girl identified as Rhythm Chanana spoke to India Today about the sudden social media spotlight on her. She said her family members were quite unhappy with her lifestyle and that she faced regular threats from her neighbours.

"I don’t care what people have to say. I am not inspired by Uorfi Javed. I didn’t even know who she was until recently a friend showed me her photo. However, I look up to her after knowing her story,” Chanana told India Today.
One Twitter user said there was "something seriously wrong going on" in Delhi and added that travelling in the Delhi metro with family and kids was now "embarrassing". Another wrote, " There is something bizarre going on in Delhi Metro - What is this madness?" Other users were concerned about why images and videos of the woman were taken without her consent. One user pointed out that the woman wasn't harming anyone.
Meanwhile, others compared the situation to a recent Delhi Metro incident in which a guy was arrested after being seen in his underwear. One user wrote that the man was booked by the police under charges of nudity and asked if the girl would be charged as well.
