A recent viral video has sparked outrage online after a mother was seen dancing near a busy road while her young child wandered dangerously close to traffic. In the "jo dikhta hai vo bikhta hai"era, we prioritise mere Instagram likes and validation from a few people over our safety. The superficial society we live in is dangerous for us.
Reel Attempt Gone Wrong
The video, which surfaced on social media recently, shows a woman performing a dance to Modern Talking’s hit song Brother Louie. As she’s busy in her performance, her young daughter can be seen straying towards a busy road. The mother’s son notices the situation and urgently points it out to her. The mother stops dancing, rushes to grab her toddler, and pulls her back from the edge of the road. It was only the young boy's presence of mind that prevented any mishappenings.
मां फोन में रील बना रही थी छोटी बच्ची बस सड़क की ओर पहुंचने वाली ही थी इतने में ही एक और बेटा आता है और इशारा करते हुए कहता है कि मां उस तरफ छोटी बहन जा रही है।

Though the location of the video remains unknown, Internet users have cited the place as one of the Northern Indian states: Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir or Uttarakhand. It has snowed in key hilly areas of all these states attracting a significant amount of tourists to enjoy the view of the snow-laden tops.
Internet's Reaction
The video met with angered reactions from the users of the Internet. A user said, "In today's age mobile is the actual accident." Similar cases of vloggers getting struck by waterfalls or rivers while shooting videos occur every year. Yet, the people do not learn the lesson and ignore the safety guidelines. Many users also commented that if this had been in some other country than India, strict actions would have been taken on account of child ignorance. One user shared their dismay by sharing on the same platform, X, "She couldn’t even spare a moment to ensure her child’s safety. Is the reel really worth it?”
The impact of the video goes beyond the few screens it would come across. It would give a message to others to also try and do the same. The "She did it, why not me" thinking would be applied without any rational thinking. This is one of the primary drawbacks of internet users who would copy anything without thinking twice.
