"It was back in 2020, and I was looking for a serious relationship. I met Tabby on a dating app. We both wanted to take things slow, so we decided to exchange Instagram IDs and start bonding. The best thing about her was that I could be so real in front of her, and for a couple of months, we talked literally non-stop! Finally, we decided to meet, and it was love at first sight for both of us. Everything felt so right when she was beside me.
But the real challenge was my parents. They weren't against us, but they had their own worries, as most parents do. I was nervous for my parents and Tabby to meet, but it was better than I could have expected, and they bonded very quickly. My immediate and extended family all connected with Tabby, and that’s one of the many reasons I knew she was the one.
We both were a bit worried because not a lot of people are accepting of LGBTQ+ couples. We decided to go with two different wedding ceremonies to respect our cultures and ethnicities. In the first part of the day, we did a Hindu ceremony and later commenced with an American traditional reception.
I know a lot of people face issues in their relationships because they worry if at all society will accept them, but trust me, if you just hold on to each other, the universe does conspire to keep you together, and in the end, it's all worth it."
