An old video of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone resurfaced on Reddit, where Kapoor can be heard calling Padukone a "cheap girl," sparking a viral debate online. In the conversation, Ranbir Kapoor remarked, "Deepika has a playful side to her. You can engage in light-hearted banter with her, and she responds in kind. She's not easily offended and has a knack for making the conversation cheeky. She doesn't shy away from being a little naughty."

Reflecting on their dynamic during the filming of Love Aaj Kal, Kapoor shared, "Initially, Deepika used to be quite reserved, but Imtiaz Ali discovered that she responds well to playful banter. Her eyes would light up when he engaged in light-hearted teasing with her."

Padukone then questioned him about his definition of "cheapness," she asked him, "How would you be cheap with me?" Kapoor responded, "I can’t be in front of the camera. But I’m telling you, isme cheapness bhara hua hai. Cheapness ki dukaan hai yeh." While Kapoor acknowledged that he refrains from behaving in a "cheap" manner on camera, his willingness to publicly label someone as "cheap" is just hypocritical and disrespectful.

Why Ranbir Kapoor's 'Cheap' Remark About Deepika Padukone Isn't Funny

Moreover, Redditors also criticised Kapoor's comments, suggesting that if he had nothing positive to say, he should refrain from speaking altogether. One user highlighted Padukone's uncomfortable expression at the beginning of the interaction, noting that she likely didn't know how to respond and ended up laughing along with it. The user described Kapoor's behaviour as "backhanded" and expressed discomfort with how he spoke about women.

In addition to this particular interview, users pointed out instances from other media interviews where Kapoor disrespectfully teased or made disrespectful remarks about his female co-actors, leaving them visibly blank. A user pointed out Kapoor's past behaviour, recalling instances where he made derogatory remarks about Anushka Sharma's medication and anxiety on national television, as well as commenting on women's appearances during interviews. The user also criticised his "mean-spirited behaviour," such as interrupting Katrina Kaif while she spoke and making fun of her pregnant wife, Alia Bhatt during interviews.

For the unversed, it was not quite long before an old video resurfaced that showed Ranbir Kapoor making fun of his former co-star Anushka Sharma during an interview. Kapoor joked about Sharma's mental health, referring to her as the "anxiety queen" who needs medication even for ordinary conversations. Sharma, taken aback by Kapoor's remarks, responded by accusing him of spreading rumours about her.

Despite Sharma's protest, Kapoor continued to mock her, suggesting she takes anti-anxiety pills regularly. Sharma retaliated by suggesting Kapoor uses drugs to appear lively, labelling him as otherwise dull. Kapoor attempted to deflect Sharma's remarks, but she persisted in revealing personal information about him, showing no signs of backing down.

Moreover, during the promotion of the movie Jagga Jasoos, Kapoor's behaviour towards co-star Katrina Kaif also raised eyebrows in a viral video. Kapoor took over when Kaif was asked about her role, cutting her off mid-sentence and explaining on her behalf. Kaif jokingly remarked on Kapoor's childish behaviour, highlighting his tendency to interrupt her.

In another incident during the same promotional event, Kaif was prompted to speak a few lines in Bengali. However, Kapoor interjected, suggesting she didn't know Hindi, let alone Bengali. These instances shed light on Kapoor's dominating behaviour during public appearances with his co-stars.

While past videos depicting Ranbir Kapoor's interactions with co-stars were often perceived as light-hearted banter, recent criticism arose following an interview with his wife, Alia Bhatt, during the promotion of Brahmastra. Unlike previous instances, Kapoor faced backlash for his behaviour in this interview, highlighting a shift in public perception towards his conduct.

During another promotional appearance for his recent film Animal, Ranbir Kapoor engaged in playful banter with co-star Rashmika Mandanna on a talk show hosted by actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. In his characteristic humorous manner, Kapoor put Mandanna on the spot by jokingly questioning her relationship with Vijay Deverakonda. He even encouraged Mandanna to call Devarakonda during the interview, leading to further teasing from Kapoor when the call ended. While some may find the exchange amusing, users claimed that Kapoor's behaviour reflects a pattern of dominance over his female co-stars.

While Ranbir Kapoor's charm and acting prowess are undeniable, it's also essential to maintain professionalism and respect for co-stars. However, we all have seen how Ranbir Kapoor often struggles to maintain focus on discussing his character and the movie during promotional interviews, instead engaging in off-topic banter that confuses and perplexes his co-stars. The actor frequently makes misogynistic comments under the guise of humour, demonstrating dominance through disrespectful remarks that lack any genuine comedic value.
