“My journey to the silver screen, a dream of my mother’s, turned into reality.
Having dedicated a significant period of my life to the media realm, I’ve thrived as an anchor, frequently gracing the spotlight. Though comfortable before the camera, the idea of acting never crossed my mind. Incidentally, a close friend, a director, shared plans for an upcoming film. In jest, I quipped that I might even star in it.
As the movie’s details took shape, I received an unexpected call from my friend, proposing a preliminary test shoot. Initially hesitant, the realisation dawned upon me that my mother had long yearned to see me on the grand cinematic canvas.
Soon, I auditioned and secured a role. Intent on surprising my mother, I chose to keep the news under wraps. Despite the logistical challenges posed by the film’s locations, I skillfully juggled commitments, leveraging my association with a TV production house. To my mother, I claimed to be engrossed in a television project while I toiled away on the undisclosed film set.
Juggling this charade, my schedule became a maze, often leading my mother to attempt to reach me fruitlessly. My quick thinking attributed my elusive phone to a water-related mishap.
Unlike me, my mother wasn’t an ardent cinema enthusiast. Convincing her to attend the movie screening proved no simple task. It was here that my sister became my confidante and accomplice. Through our combined efforts, we managed to bring our mother to the theatre. Witnessing her astonishment as she spotted me on the silver screen was an unparalleled experience - a truly priceless reaction that left her utterly speechless.
Over time, I had bestowed my mother with thoughtful tokens of affection, yet this gesture was unlike any other, an extraordinary culmination of a cherished dream. The immense effort invested yielded its intended outcome, leaving both of us rewarded beyond measure.”
