In a conversation with SheThePeople, Rishabh shared his dreams of pursuing hotel management and becoming financially stable to fulfil all his mother's wishes. Read his story, in his own words, below.

This Ambala Grew Up Ahead Of His Time Following His Father’s Death

"I live in Ambala with my mother and younger brother. My mother has raised us boys all by herself since my father passed away. It has not been easy for her.

One day, when I saw her struggling to wash clothes, I felt the need to gift her a washing machine. I wanted to earn just to make my dream come true.

During my summer vacation in March, an uncle suggested that I take on the job of newspaper distribution. I wasn’t sure earlier, but I thought of giving it a try. I tried and somehow managed to pull it off. It wasn’t easy; every day there would be a new hurdle. Sometimes I would be sick, and sometimes my cycle would break down, but I still went to work every day.

My mother was my constant support throughout this journey. She asked me to quit when I fell sick because of exhaustion. But I never gave up. Instead, I started making videos in which I shared the challenge I took on April 26, 2020, to gift a washing machine to my mother in 30 days.

I got a lot of love, appreciation, and help all over social media. Some people even supported me financially in their own capacity. After 50 days, I gifted my mother a washing machine of her choice. She was overjoyed. Her smile made waking up every day at 4 and going to work all worth it.

I am bullied in school by the name ‘newspaper wala’ and many such comments. But my teachers have always been supportive of my ambition. They keep motivating me and appreciate my efforts. They even waived off my partial tuition fees. So I can manage to have some savings.

My dream is to pursue hotel management and open my hotel one fine day. I want to be financially stable so I can fulfil all my mother's wishes without giving them a second thought. My life is devoted to her, and my mother’s happiness is above all.

My message to all the readers is to always maintain the “never give up” attitude to achieve your goals. Do the hard work and one day you will have it all."
