It’s been almost a week since Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was released, and the craze for the film has only been rapidly increasing. A lot of people across the globe have been making reels on Instagram with the classic dialogue, "Hi Barbie." One such video has emerged online, but this one surely stands out from the rest.
The video shows a 94-year-old woman recreating the dialogue with her granddaughter. The video shows the granddaughter teaching the dialogue "Hi Barbie" to her grandmother. Once the elderly woman gets the hang of it, she is seen donning several pink outfits and having a blast in them.
94-Year-Old Grandmom Becomes Barbie
The caption introduced the elderly woman as Jiya, Jinal’s 94-year-old daadi. Jinal stated that people aren’t really done with the Barbie trend if they haven’t met this 94-year-old Barbie yet. She further explained that she was wondering if they should follow this trend because she was seeing the reel every second, which demotivated her from watching the film. She added that since she hated regrets, she was hopping on to the Barbie trend in her own unique way with her grandmother.
The post was shared about three days ago and has garnered over six million views. It has also received several adorable comments and thousands of likes.
The video was uploaded by an Instagram user named @lampofjinni, a fashion designer. In an exclusive talk with SheThePeople, Jain revealed that she lost her job during the pandemic, and that was when she found her new passion for content creation.
Although her family wasn’t very supportive of her taking content creation in the beginning as a career option, her grandmother was in full support and never let her spirits down. "She’d tell me how she saw my work, and that felt great."
One day Jinal asked her grandmother if she would be interested in doing reels with her, and she agreed. "To my astonishment, she was a pro from day one! Her crazy antics and fun side made me so comfortable shooting with her that it was fun and not work anymore.
Although initially filled with doubts as to how people would respond, the grandmother and granddaughter duo became more confident.
Jinal also said that her grandmother is a great company who motivates her and ensures they work well and are happy. The duo shares a close bond; they chat for hours at night and have been through the ups and downs of life together.
