The inspiring journey of a 24-year-old who was born in a refugee camp completing her master's degree in the United States has won netizens' hearts.
The graduate, Hamdia Ahmed is a Somalian who was born in a refugee camp in Kenya, Africa and spent the first 7 years of her life there.

She shared images of her graduation photographs. She could be seen donning her graduation gown and cap as she kissed her mother on her forehead.
Hamdia Ahmed further shared that "everyday people" helped her pay for her school tuition and if people had not invested in her and her education, she wouldn't have made it as far as she did.
Ahmed wrote that everything she did was to make her parents proud, and added that he father worked as a delivery man using a wheelbarrow. His job as a delivery person was how he was able to feed his family while they lived in the refugee camp.
She also shared that her resilient mother had faced countless challenges throughout her life. Ahmed added that her mother "is the definition of a strong woman" and that she could write an entire book about her life story.
Ahmed expressed her gratitude to those who supported her and her family and to the United Nations, the State Department, and everyone who allowed her family to move to the US.
Hamdia Ahmed also added that she wanted to pursue law and was seeking help to raise funds for her further studies. She shared that the injustice she witnessed while living in the refugee camp inspired her to advocate for people.
