Who was Dr Ramesh Peramsetty?
Peramsetty's journey in medicine began when he graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986, and over his 38-year career, he specialised in emergency medicine and family medicine. He practised in Tuscaloosa and four other locations, gaining respect for his skills and dedication. He was also affiliated with the Regional Medical Centre and held a Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
Beyond his medical practice, Peramsetty was deeply involved in philanthropy. He donated Rs 14 lakh to Menakuru High School in Andhra Pradesh, where he had studied, and contributed to the construction of a Sai temple in his village. His commitment to giving back to his roots was widely recognised.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Peramsetty played a crucial role in the community's response, for which he received several awards. In recognition of his contributions, a street in Tuscaloosa was named in his honour.
Peramsetty is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all of whom are settled in the United States. His death is a significant loss to both the local and international communities.
