Virgin River has emerged to become one of Netflix's most-loved shows globally. With a staggering growth in viewership and a mass following of its cast members, the show is touted as an emotional roller coaster. After four successful season runs, the makers are back with season 5 this fall, and fans can't wait for the storyline to bring new twists and faces.
Virgin River, which aired its first season in 2019, features Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson in lead roles. While season 2 of the show was released in 2020, seasons 3 and 4 were released in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Signalling that the makers plan to release one season per year, Netflix has now announced that season 5 is all set to premiere this fall.
Virgin River Season 5 Plot
As per Netflix's global event Tudum, the audience will have to wait some more for the season to return. The statement reads, "We'll head back to the statuesque redwood forests of Virgin River when Season 5 debuts this fall."
In May, the OTT platform announced that the show had been renewed not just for season 5 but also for its 6th instalment. The show, based on the Virgin River book series by Robyn Carr, is set to welcome new members on board in its fifth instalment.
In an interview with Glamour, Martin Henderson, who plays the lead Jack in the show, shared how the storyline will be an emotional and heavy roller coaster with "the baby stuff involved" in the lives of all characters. Mentioning how a lot of loose ends are tied by the end of season 4, season 5 will have a whole new turn of plot twists. He stated how "someone might move away and leave."
With Charmaine confessing inform of Mel and Jack that the twin boys are actually not Jack's, it will be interesting to watch the "father reveal" in the new season.
The season will majorly showcase how Mel and Jack navigate their lives, affected and inspired by the people they love, whilst raising their baby girl together.
Diversity and LGBTQIA Inclusion in Season 5
What remains primarily interesting is that, if reports are to be believed, the show will have more people representing the LGBTQIA+ community. This is a move from the makers' end to bring more visibility to the community and do their rightful part in showcasing inclusivity.
