US Woman Missing In Spain Post Messaging Friends About 'Mystery Man'

A woman from Florida, USA, went missing in Spain soon after messaging her friends on February 2 about a man she met on the street and had an "instant connection" with. Ana Knezevich told her friends that she was on the way to a country home two hours from Madrid, adding that her cell signal was poor and that she would call them when she was back, Her friends have not heard from her since. She was last spotted by her neighbours on February 2. 

Knezevich's friend Sanna Rameau told WSVN that she moved to Madrid amid an ongoing bitter divorce with her Serbian husband. The 40-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident wanted to travel to Europe as an escape. However, her friends have no information about her whereabouts anymore.

Where Is Ana Knezevich?

Ana Knezevich, originally from Colombia, was a US citizen and had been staying at a rented apartment in Madrid since December. Although she was frequently in contact with her friends, she did not respond to them since she allegedly went on a trip with a mystery man. Her friends believe that she was taken there against her will.

Sanna Rameau told WSVN, "We received very bizarre messages from her phone, I have to say from her phone because I don’t believe it was her sending it, that Saturday afternoon after she disappeared. That she had met a man on the street," adding that she asked her to share her location and warned her against travelling with an unknown man.

Since she has not responded since that day, Rameau said, "She has not left on her own. She has been taken against her will and by whom, I don’t know." Allegedly, some family members received cryptic messages written in Spanish from Knezevich's number, which they believe were not sent by her. Spanish authorities are investigating the case.

Authorities have found surveillance footage of Knezevich's building that shows a mystery man, wearing a black helmet, spraying paint over two cameras. “I’m living my worst nightmare. I’ve never felt this pain in my entire life because I don’t know what has happened to her, someone has hurt her and I don’t know why,” Rameau said.

Rameau later flew to Madrid to speak with Spanish authorities and urged American officials to help. “I just want her back. I want the American authorities to help. We have an American citizen that has disappeared abroad and no one in America is doing anything about it,” she said.
