Say Goodbye To Daddy, Said US Woman Before Killing 3-Year-Old & Self

In a devastating incident in Texas, US, a woman in San Antonio reportedly took the life of her 3-year-old before killing herself in what now appears to be a murder-suicide case. The case seemed to be fueled by a custody and pending divorce battle that led the woman to take extreme steps. The 32-year-old, identified as Savannah Kriger, murdered her 3-year-old son Kaiden on March 18 in San Antonio park and shot a 21-second long video clip prior in which she asked the toddler to 'say goodbye to daddy.'

According to the Bexar County Sherrif Javier Salazar, the tragic incident unfolded on March 19 when the police officers found the bodies of the deceased mother and son following her ex-husband's 911 complaint to report 'criminal mischief' by his ex-wife. Following the lead, police authorities found the bodies of the deceased 19 hours after the incident.

The woman's death was deemed to be suicide as she was the only suspect considered at the time of the investigation and her son's death was ruled out as homicide in a murder-suicide case, as per the Bexar County Police.

What Happened?

Sheriff Salazar briefed the incident's timeline on March 18 when Kriger left her job early to pick up her son from daycare for a doctor's appointment. However, she first allegedly vandalised her ex-husband's house damaging the property while the man was away at his auto dealership job. 

Kriger then returned to her home and damaged some of her own personal belongings. The investigators later found her wedding dress and two portraits laid out on her bed; two portraits were found with two rounds of bullets which, officers say, were shot by Kriger before she left to pick her son up from his daycare.

As Kriger picked up Kaiden for a 'Doctor's appointment', she loaded him in a passenger's seat and face-timed her ex-husband saying, "You don't have anything to go home to now... and you won't have anything at all at the end of the day" which she recorded using another phone. 

Around 40 minutes later, Kriger reached San Antonio Park and face-timed her ex-husband again which he did not pick up and instead reported a "criminal mischief" to 911. As Kriger's ex-husband did not pick up the call, Kriger shot a 21-second video clip that started with "It's pretty obvious what's about to happen in the video." 

The video clip was the last message to her ex-husband as Kriger asked her son to "Say goodbye to daddy" and kissed him apologising for his daddy's absence at the moment after which she shot the toddler and then herself. The deceased bodies were found along with the mobile phone near the drainage ditch of the park 19 hours later.

The Bexar County Police suspect the possible motive for the extreme steps could be the legal child custody battle and the pending divorce between the couple.
