In a disturbing turn of events, an 18-year-old woman from the United States has been apprehended by authorities after attempting to hire a hitman to murder her 3-year-old son. The bone-chilling incident came to light when the woman unwittingly approached a parody website, leading to her swift arrest and charges being filed against her.
According to reports from the New York Post, the woman was caught trying to engage the services of a hitman through a website called RentAHitman.com. Unaware that the site was a clever satire designed to expose those with malicious intentions, she allegedly submitted images of her innocent child and divulged his exact whereabouts, setting a horrifying plan into motion.
US Woman Arrested For Plotting Murder Of Child
The operators of the parody website, upon discovering the harrowing request, acted responsibly and immediately contacted the police to report the incident. With the information provided by the website, investigators traced the IP address used to make the chilling request, which ultimately led them back to the woman in question.
Assuming the role of the hitman, an undercover investigator reached out to the young woman, and she allegedly confirmed her intentions and agreed to pay $3,000 for the heinous act. However, her deplorable scheme was cut short when law enforcement stormed her residence and took her into custody, preventing any harm from befalling the innocent child.
The accused now faces serious charges, including first-degree solicitation of murder and third-degree unlawful use of a communications device. Court documents reveal that she is currently held on a $15,000 bond and has been ordered to stay away from her child. Fortunately, family members have disclosed to NBC6 that the toddler is now safe under the care of relatives.
The motive behind this horrifying attempt to end a young life remains shrouded in mystery, as authorities have not yet revealed the reasons driving the woman to take such a dark path.
Similar cases raise concern
Disturbingly, this is not the first instance of such a sinister plot coming to light. Just last month, in Iowa's Storm Lake, a 17-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly seeking an online "hitman" to assassinate a 7-year-old child. The series of events points to a deeply unsettling trend of individuals turning to the dark corners of the internet to seek deadly solutions to their personal conflicts.
'Rent-a-Hitman,' the website in question, maybe a parody site with fake testimonials and even a mock job application for aspiring hitmen, but its underlying purpose is to aid law enforcement in catching potential wrongdoers. Bob Innes, the owner of RentAHitman.com, stated that he routinely reports suspicious requests to local authorities in an effort to safeguard society from those harbouring sinister intentions.
Speaking about the incident, Innes urged people to be vigilant and reminded them that the internet can harbour dangerous individuals. He emphasised the importance of educating both adults and children about the potential risks online.
As the legal process unfolds, the focus remains on the well-being of the innocent child involved.
