It was very evident when her professional relations with former President Donald Trump went downhill as the two called out each other publicly and affirmatively.

"The hour has come for the new generation to take over"

Pelosi, while addressing the House as she announced her term end said that her stepping down denotes the fact that it's time to welcome the new generation to take over and lead when it comes to US politics at large. “For me, the time is here when a new generation must lead the Democratic caucus, that I hold great respect for," she said.

Her much-anticipated speech on the House of Representatives floor marks an end to a glorious term. She expressed her gratitude to all those who are pumped up to move forward and take new roles in US politics. Pelosi is not expected to run for re-election as the head of the Democratic caucus, which is to take place in January 2023.

She has, however, decided to continue serving as a member of the House. She announced that she will not seek a leadership role in Congress in the next elections but will do all she can to help those who seek her advice when it comes to party leadership.

Pelosi has vocally expressed how Mahatma Gandhi's influence helped her shape her life. In a 2019 event, she said that Mahatma Gandhi, who made a major difference in the world and the United States, highly inspired Martin Luther King Jr with his concept of non-violent struggle and the satyagraha that King Jr learned from the former in 1959 during his visit to India. "We owe this debt to India," she had said in a statement.
