Through an interesting fusion of sexual health and glamour depicted on a dress, a US designer is making headlines. The designer, who goes by the name Gunnar Deatherage, has come up with a creative dress made out of expired condoms! Yes, you heard that right.
In a video shared by the designer, Deatherage explains all the processes and the hard work that went into crafting the dress. The video, captioned as "I made a dress out of condoms and it’s stunning,", has quickly gone viral.
The process of making the dress
In the video, we can see Deatherage using expired condoms to decorate the hems of the dress. He unpacks the condoms, converts them into flowers using pins and zip-ties and sprays golden colour on them to make them look glamorous and splendid. He then tied the floral-shaped condoms to the black dress making it nothing less than an attire suitable for Met Gala.
The response to the video is overwhelming. People are impressed by Deatherage's talent. The use of a dress to promote sexual health is creative in many ways and is winning people's hearts.
Promoting sexual health
Promoting sexual health is very important in today's day and age. A new study has shown that many low-income, straight men do not use condoms despite knowing the risks. Some people are so disgusted by the idea of condoms that they don't even use the word in their conversation. There is a huge social stigma attached to the use of condoms in our society. How many parents teach their children about condoms? None, they rather frown upon the idea of their children using condoms. How many men openly talk about the use of condoms? Very less because the condom is perceived as a cover for their masculinity and for seconds of pleasure.
The glamourous display of condoms on a dress is indeed inspiring and creative. It will encourage the conversation around sexual health and normalise the use of condoms.
