A woman from Los Angeles, California killed her partner and infant before dying by suicide on April 8, allegedly because she was disturbed by the solar eclipse. Danielle Johnson, an astrology influencer who went by the pseudonym 'Ayoka' online, had been posting warnings about the eclipse bringing in a 'spiritual warfare' for days before she killed her family and herself. On the day of the eclipse, the 34-year-old stabbed her husband, pushed her two children out of a moving car, and then deliberately crashed into a tree. The eight-month-old infant died on the spot but the nine-year-old survived and sustained minor injuries.
A press release from the Los Angeles Police Department stated that Johnson shoved her eight-month-old and nine-year-old children out of the car on a busy highway at around 4:30 a.m. on April 8. She then drove her Porsche SUV at over 100mph and crashed into a tree in the city of Redondo Beach at around 5 a.m.
Upset Over Eclipse
Days before her death, Danielle Johnson had been posting content about the eclipse being an "apocalypse" and "the end of the world". The self-proclaimed astrologer posted messages like "This eclipse is the epitome of spiritual warfare. Get your protection on and your heart in the right place," which X (Twitter) had even marked as misinformation.

In another post, she wrote, "The world is very obviously changing right now and if you ever needed to pick a side, the time to do right in your life is now. Stay strong you got this. Los Angeles Police Department officer Lt. Guy Golan acknowledged that the solar eclipse had nothing to do with the death of her family and herself.
Johnson and her partner Jaelen Chaney (29) became involved in a verbal argument on April 8, 2024, around 3:40 a.m., the LAPD press release stated. The altercation "escalated into Johnson becoming violent, stabbing Chaney, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” the release continued. “A knife with biological evidence was later recovered from the scene.”
His body was discovered at around 7:35 a.m. after neighbours in the couple’s apartment building in Woodland Hills, LA, noticed their front door was open and went to check on their wellbeing. According to reports, the investigators also found tarot cards and black feathers in their apartment. The police are yet to conclude the exact reason behind Johnson's actions.
