Details of the incident

The incident occurred on July 1, when the victim's husband grabbed Tess' arm and stabbed it, while the couple's children watched on in the Tennessee home. The man also allegedly tried to force his children into a truck and set the house on fire. His children were “watching and pleading” him to stop.

Her family believes that she survived due to the blessings and deeds of 'Good Samaritans'.

According to a report by People, authorities responding to the scene found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds and transported her to the hospital. Mowel, the husband, was subsequently arrested by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault (domestic-related), and domestic assault.

The police documents and report about the incident stated that Mowel approached an officer after the incident and said, "I did it. It was me."

Tess' mother Tina told WSMV that a duo from Alabama was in the area checking out a Facebook Marketplace item. When they saw the smoke, they rushed inside and put out the fire consuming Tessa, saving her life. Tina expressed gratitude to the couple and said, ''God bless you, and I will reach out to you once my family finds out who you are. Our family is so grateful for y’all because I wouldn’t have her today.”

Now what?

Tess is reportedly recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center but is paralysed from the waist down, in addition to having sustained third-degree burns.
Her sister Tori thus set up a GoFundMe page for Tess to meet the high hospital charges and raise awareness about the incident to ultimately elicit just, fair compensation and ensure justice for her sister.
