Pop star Taylor Swift creates history and becomes the first female artist to have the most No. 1 albums. The recent release of Speak Now (Taylor's Version) became Swift's 12th number-one album overtaking Barbra Streisand among women.
Swift becomes the first living artist in nearly 60 years, having four of her albums in the top ten. The four of her albums in the top ten include Midnight, Lover, Speak Now, and Folklore. The songwriter now has more number-one albums than any other female music artist in history.
Taylor Swift Have Has Most No 1 Albums
Her recent album Speak Now shattered all records and became her 12th number-one album. With this achievement, the 33-year-old singer surpassed Barbra Streisand, who previously held the record for female music artists. Previously, the two artists shared eleven chart-toppers each. Swift’s Speak Now version also had the biggest week for any album on the Billboard 200.
Speak Now was originally released in 2010. It was on May 5, 2023, at her Eras Tour, Swift announced Speak Now (Taylor’s version). According to Luminate, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) debuted in the United States with 716,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 13. Traditional album sales accounted for over 500,000 of those shipments. Swift's previous re-recorded albums, Red (Taylor's Version) and Fearless (Taylor's Version), both debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
In addition, she has also re-recorded Fearless and Lover and pledged to re-record her first six albums to gain control of their rights, a process she was contractually permitted to begin in November 2020. Intriguingly, Swift keeps breaking her records.
Among male musicians, Jay-Z and the Beatles have a dozen number one Albums, though Billboard adds that its ranking system has evolved over the years to include anthologies.
