Wish you could go see Taylor Swift perform live on her 'Eras' tour? With the release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, you could grab the chance to see her perform! The movie will focus on the artist during the US leg of the 'Eras' tour, which she just completed last month.
The movie was released in North America on October 13, 2023. Here are five things to know about the movie.
1. What It's About
Taylor Swift's new concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, includes footage of Taylor Swift's first three concerts in LA "at SoFi Stadium, where she performed a total of six straight shows in early August," and was attended by "a total of 500,000 fans," according to Billboard.
Directed by Grammy-nominated filmmaker Sam Wrench, Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, said in a statement to Billboard that the film would be nearly three hours long- 2 hours, 45 minutes to be exact!
2. Tickets
Tickets to see the film in cinemas are already on sale; "standard tickets are $19.89 (plus tax) for adults and $13.13 for children and seniors (plus tax)," according to Billboard. AMC Theatres, one of the largest theatre chains in the US, will screen the film in IMAX, and Dolby Cinema, as well as standard format, with ticket prices varying for each cinema hall.
According to Billboard, "In anticipation of an expected rush of interest — a.k.a., a repeat of Ticketmaster’s hectic presale roll-out for the U.S. Eras Tour dates — AMC upgraded its website and ticketing engines to handle more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic ever experienced by the company."
3. The Concert Experience
If you've already bought tickets for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, you're signing up for the entire concert experience live- not just what the movie shows you. Taylor Swift's tweet on the concert movie encouraged fans to engage with the film as though they were at an actual Taylor Swift concert, by dressing up and singing/dancing along!
The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆 Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theatres in North America! 4. Records Broken
Within three days of the film being released, Taylor Swift's concert film has already broken records, making $26 million within the first day of tickets being up for sale, breaking cinema giant AMC's previous record with Spiderman: No Way Home, according to Billboard.
5. Easter Eggs
A Taylor Swift concert movie would not be a Taylor Swift concert movie if it didn't have any Easter eggs in it for eager-eyed fans. From the obvious ticket prices ($19.89- 1989 is the year Swift was born and the name of one of her albums, and $13.13 - 13, her favourite number), to the cryptic "1,2,3 LGB!!!!" in her Instagram post announcing the film's release, you know that this movie will be filled with Swift's special Easter eggs.
