Meet Tanya Herbert, The Woman Holding The World Record For The Largest Feet

A woman from Texas, United States created the record for having the world’s largest feet on a living person (female). According to the Guinness World Records, Tanya Herbert’s right foot measures 33.1 cm and her left foot measures 32.5 cm.

Depending on the brand, Herbert’s shoe size is either a US women’s 18 or a US men’s 16-17. At 6 feet 9 inches (205.74 cm) tall, Herbert has always been taller than her peers.

According to the Guinness World Records website, “By high school her feet had reached the record-breaking size they are today”.

Tanya Herbert spoke with Guinness World Records about her experiences growing up. She said, “Growing up I was always the tallest around.” Her mother was 6 feet 5 inches (195.68 cm) tall and her father was 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm) tall, thus Herbert “had no choice but to be tall”.

She added, “I never remember getting bullied or anything like that for my height." Herbert added her friends took care of her and ensured she was "loved and liked".

Due to her large feet size, Herbert was unable to find women’s shoes in her life and wore men’s shoes for most of her life. She added that she usually wore tennis shoes or men’s loafers.

Tanya Herbert also uses social media to connect with other women who were facing similar issues. She revealed that she would buy the largest shoes available on the internet and “manipulate” them to make them fit.

Herbert said she would “extend them out a little longer and make them a little wider” so that they would fit her large feet.

She hopes that the attention that comes with being named a Guinness World Record holder “open doors” in women’s shoes. Herbert said, “Women struggle with size 12 or 13, trying to find shoes and I’m size 18… trying to find women’s shoes is impossible or extremely unaffordable”.

Herbert added, “I want to be a spark to the shoe manufacturing industry!”
