Amazon Prime Video has announced the upcoming release of a fresh movie titled Red, White, & Royal Blue on August 11. Drawing inspiration from Casey McQuiston's acclaimed LGBTQ+ romance novel of the same name, the film is eagerly anticipated. The novel, initially published on May 14, 2019, serves as the foundation for this cinematic adaptation.

The filmmakers have also unveiled a new poster for the movie, accompanied by three preview clips. The opening scene depicts President Claremont-Diaz reprimanding her son after the pivotal "Cakegate" incident that propels the storyline forward. A subsequent clip unveils the clandestine romance between Alex and Prince Henry, while the third snippet showcases the characters engaging in press conferences, marked by their exchange of subtly pointed remarks, adding depth to the plot.

The son of the American president, Alex Claremont-Diaz, and the British prince Henry share striking looks, immense charm, widespread popularity, and a mutual disdain for one another. Their ongoing feud has been relatively inconsequential due to the physical distance between them. However, a disastrous and highly publicised altercation during a royal event makes headlines, potentially straining American-British relations during a critical period. In a bid to mitigate the fallout, their families and advisors orchestrated a staged "truce" between the adversaries.

Unexpectedly, the underlying tension between Alex and Henry begins to thaw, gradually evolving into a tentative friendship that sparks an unforeseen and profound connection. As their bond develops, the question arises: Will their relationship remain confined to a façade for the public, or can they overcome obstacles and allow their burgeoning romance to flourish further?

Getting positive feedback from the audience for impeccable casting, Matthew Lopez shared his thoughts and fears while finding the right artist for the movie, "In all honesty, I don’t know if we would have ended up making the movie if we felt like we were compromising on the casting, because you get that wrong and you just don’t have a film. So it took months of searching, particularly for Alex, because I wasn’t at all certain who was going to be out there for this role, and as a Puerto Rican filmmaker, I was acutely aware of the opportunity to cast this role in a way that was gonna sort of bring a new name and a new face to the public.”

He further added, “I knew that both Taylor and Nick were perfectly cast as their roles, but what I wasn’t sure of until I put them in a chemistry read was ‘would they play well together?’ The nightmare scenario for me was finding two perfect actors for the role who did not gel at all together so the degree to which this could have gone wrong for me, with the casting, was just stratospheric, and the fact that it went so well in terms of finding the right people for the roles who were also just the right people for each other was a lucky break that came at the end of a very long process!"

The movie's trailer debuted one month ago with an impressive 7.3 million views generating excitement and anticipation among the audience.
