An unknown man allegedly broke into a woman's apartment in New York City's Upper East Side at around 3:40 a.m. while she was asleep and raped her.

An unknown man allegedly broke into a woman's New York City apartment while she was asleep and raped her on September 28. The incident happened at the posh Upper East Side at around 3:40 a.m. The 29-year-old survivor told the police that the man barged into her home and punched her in the face to wake her before raping her. The suspect remains at large, New York Police Department said.

Police On Lookout For Suspect: What Happened?

Soon after the brutal assault, the survivor was rushed to Lenox Hill Hospital, where doctors reported she was in stable condition. The suspect was caught on surveillance camera leaving the scene wearing a white graphic shirt, blue jeans, and a camouflage-print jacket. 

According to reports, the incident happened near East 92nd Street and First Avenue. The case has been presented to the Manhattan Special Victims Squad for further probe. The NYPD has asked anyone with information on the alleged rapist to contact Crime Stoppers.

In May 2024, a horrifying incident was caught on surveillance camera, where a man was seen following a woman, wrapping a belt around her neck, and dragging her unconscious body behind a car to rape her on the side of the road. The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Kashaan Parks.

It was Parks’ own mother, Beverly Parks, who turned him in when she found out. “I’m the one that facilitated him being arrested,” she told the New York Post. “I found out about this yesterday morning at 5:12 am, and I’ve been trying to get my son to do the right thing ever since. And I did.”

Parks was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, sex abuse in the first degree, first-degree public lewdness and harassment in the first degree. The assault took place near East 152nd Street and 3rd Avenue, ABC 7 reported.
