A woman from Florida, United States, was found trapped in a shipping container after being missing for three days. On March 7, Marlene Lopez from Florida's Cocoa was found unharmed but has been admitted to the hospital for dehydration and other medical checkups. The 52-year-old was declared missing when she failed to pick her son up from school on March 4, alarming his teacher and her family. Three days later, she was mysteriously found in the container of a lawnmower shipping company in Cocoa.
According to Fox35, Lopez had no clue how she got inside the container. In a dishevelled state, she told Cocoa Polie officials, "I was in one place and found in another."
Missing US Mom Found In Shipping Container
Marlene Lopez's family reported to the police on March 5 that she'd been missing for many hours and failed to pick her son up from school. On March 7, A disoriented Lopez stepped out of the shipping container near a lawnmower company store in Cocoa, Florida. The store is located off a busy street next to a gas station. According to reports, Lopez banged on the container to be rescued but no one could hear her for a long time.
When the owner of the shipping container finally heard the banging noise, he opened the door to find Lopez, who was physically unable to explain what happened to her. He told local news outlet News 6 that he had seen the 52-year-old woman walking around the area on the night of March 4, the day she had gone missing.
He added that he locked the container the next afternoon and did not hear any sounds coming from within the next day. He told News 6 that he found a lighter and pipe inside after she was rescued. Lopez told the police that she had no clue how she got there. Sonneberg said he believes she may have wandered inside the container and passed out.
“She had been banging on the door of the shipping container when someone heard her and unlocked the door,” a Cocoa Police spokesperson Yvonne Martinez told the media. “She’d been in there since Monday night — that’s what we believe." Police are still investigating how Lopez ended up inside the container, and so far no charges have been announced.
