A 34-year-old male nanny is sentenced to a maximum sentence of 690 years to life after being found guilty of molesting 16 boys and showing pornography to another boy, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Matthew Zakrzewski of Costa Mesa has been convicted of 34 felonies by a jury, including 27 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with minors under the age of 14, two felony counts of oral copulation of a minor under the age of 10, and a felony count of possession of child pornography.
He is also facing one felony of using a minor for sexual acts, two felony counts of distributing pornography to a minor to engage in sexual activity, and one felony count of attempting a lewd or lascivious act with a minor below the age of 14. A jury convicted Zakrzewski of all 34 felonies and awarded him the maximum sentence.
Male Nanny Sentenced For Molesting Young Boys
District Attorney Todd Spitzer said that the young boys were forced to endure unimaginable terror as a result of the ultimate betrayal of their babysitter.
He further added that the parents thought they were hiring a trusted babysitter to care for their children while they went on family vacations, on date nights, and for other childcare needs. However, they unknowingly let a monster walk into their home and prey on innocent children in the vilest way.
The district attorney also said that he was extremely proud of the young survivors who bravely took a stand to testify against their perpetrators, their parents, who stood by their side every step of the way, and the parents who testified themselves. He noted that by standing up against their predator, they ensure the voices of survivors of sexual assault are heard and protect other children from falling prey to him.
Zakrzewski worked as a male nanny for families in Southern California and referred to himself as “the original sitter buddy” on his website. He also called himself a “manny” who provided a variety of babysitting services, including mentorships, big brother relationships, and overnight and vacation babysitting.
On his website, Zakrzewski stated that he discovered in the eighth grade that it was a joy to work with children and have a positive impact on their lives through his school’s “Buddy Program." He claimed himself to be a full-service TrustLine-certified provider of regular and on-demand childcare.
Zakrzewski committed these crimes between January 1, 2014, and May 17, 2019. He is facing 690 years to life plus eight years and will be sentenced on November 17, 2023, at the central justice centre in Santa Ana, in Department C30.
The horrifying crimes came to light when a Laguna Beach couple reported in May 2019 that their babysitter, Zakrzewski, had touched their eight-year-old son inappropriately and was concerned about the safety of their son and potentially other children. The police immediately began an investigation and identified a seven-year-old survivor in Los Angeles and 10 more boys from across Southern California.
