Man Who Stole Lady Gaga's Bulldogs And Shot Dog Walker Mistakenly Released

A 19-year-old guy who was accused of stealing two of Lady Gaga's French bulldogs and shooting her dog walker last year was unintentionally released from a Los Angeles jail in April, prompting the U.S. Marshals Service to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to his capture. James Howard Jackson, 19, was "erroneously released from detention" following his indictment due to a "clerical error," the agency claimed in a news release. Jackson is accused of attempted murder and second-degree robbery.

Saying that Jackson should be considered "armed" and "dangerous," the agency further added, "Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.” Two days after Michael Jackson's unintentional release on April 6, Ryan Fischer, the dog walker who was shot in the chest during the attack on February 24, 2021, suggested that Jackson turn himself in, on an Instagram post.

Fischer said, "While I’m deeply concerned at the events that led to his release, I’m confident law enforcement will rectify the error. I ask for Mr Jackson to turn himself over to the authorities, so the resolution to the crime committed against me runs its course, whatever the courts determine that outcome to be. Thank you to everyone who is supporting me during this time.”

The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed on Monday that the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Major Crime Team had asked for assistance in locating and apprehending Jackson. In connection with the attack, four additional people have been charged in addition to Jackson. According to the authorities, the robbery and shooting were committed by Jaylin White, 20, and Lafayette Whaley, 28, and following the shooting, Harold White, 42, and Jennifer McBride, 51, were charged with being accessories.

Around 9:40 p.m. on February 24, 2021, Fischer was walking Lady Gaga's three French bulldogs north on Sierra Bonita Avenue in Hollywood when a car drove up next to him. Two males were seen coming out of the automobile and fighting with Fischer in surveillance footage taken from a nearby house. He shouted loudly, and then he has shot shortly after. The three males then took two of the dogs, according to the prosecution, and drove off in a car. After the incident, Fischer, who had suffered grave injuries, had a memory of lying in a pool of blood while clutching Lady Gaga's dog, which had not been stolen.

The attackers, according to the investigators, did not target the dog walker because they knew Lady Gaga owned the dogs, but rather because French bulldogs are expensive.
