Students and staff from Oklahoma gathered to celebrate and congratulate a beloved Cafeteria staff member who passed her US citizenship test recently.
The heart-touching has been doing the rounds on social media lately. It shows school children showering a cafeteria staff member with their love and wishes after she gains US citizenship after years of working in the country. They surprised her with loud claps as she walked down the hallway, getting emotional.
Kids Congratulate Staff On US Citizenship
The emotional video shows how students and staff from Prairie Vale Elementary School in Oklahoma came together to congratulate one of the staff members, Ms Yanet Viamontes Lopez, who is the cafeteria manager at the school.
Lopez who is originally from Cuba, gained citizenship in the United States along with her family. To congratulate her the students and the staff, chanted “USA! USA!”.
The school posted the video with the caption, “A huge Shoutout to Ms Yanet, our sweet cafeteria manager, who passes her test to become a US citizen!!! HOORAY!!!”
Other pictures posted by the school showed her waving a miniature American flag and hugging other staff members.
Lopez dreamt of becoming a citizen of the United States since she was fourteen. Currently working as a respectable professional in a school, she waited for five years for citizenship after receiving her green card.

Another post on social media said, "Every morning Ms Yanet walks into the office and proclaims 'Good Morning, Pretty Ladies' and with a smile and a laugh, she always starts the day with a positive message."
"I am so excited for Ms Yanet and the realisation of one of her dreams in passing her citizenship test!" Another wrote, "We laughed that she would know more than those of us born in the US, I am honoured to work with one of best US citizens I know!"
This video touched my heart and made me realise how it’s our responsibility to make others feel like they belong, alongside appreciating the ones that work for us. These little things you do for others make a big change in your life and theirs. It reminds me of a quote by Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
