This Influencer Got Her Jaw Locked By Yawning Too Wide

In an incident that is equal parts nightmarish and comical, an influencer gets her jaw locked by yawning too much. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was seen being unable to speak and having spit drooling from her mouth. In the video that has since gone viral, the woman was seen being taken an X-ray. She later said that she was in incredible amounts of pain. 

How An Influencer Locked Her Jaw By Yawning

21-year-old Jenna Sinatra from New Jersey said she was yawning wide when she realised that she was not able to shut her mouth back. She soon began panicking and tried to convince her parents that something was wrong with her jaw. They promptly took her to the hospital, where the doctor said that it was a rare case of lock-jaw and "shoved it back together". They also said that it was teh force of her yawn that made her jaw get locked. 

In a series of videos that have since gone viral, Jenna has documented the entire process of her diagnosis, and viewers were disturbed, to say the least. "New fear unlocked." said one netizen. "I get lock-jaw when I yawn. It only lasts for a few minutes, but I live in constant fear that my muscles aren't gonna give me my jaw back." another user posted about their own experience with lock-jaw. Jenna also shared that the doctors have said that this might happen to her again.

 Dr. Anthony Youn, who makes medical TikToks, recently made a stitch to Jenna's original videos explaining the phenomenon of lockjaw, explaining in detail why and how it happens. Lockjaw is a rare condition in people with TMJ and can only be treated by manual jaw adjustment. Activities that involve opening your mouth unnaturally wide might cause lockjaw or similar problems. 

However, for many users, what concerned them the most was an inappropriate comment that the doctor seemed to make about Jenna. While asking her about how she accidentally locked her jaw, the doctor then, seemingly out of nowhere, asked if she was married. When she replied that she was not, the doctor commented, "There is still time for that". While many defended the doctor, saying that they might have been talking about her relationship status before, chalking the odd question up as an editing error, others still found it rather invasive.
