Actor Emily Hampshire, along with a friend, drew attention when they playfully imitated Amber Heard and Johnny Depp for Halloween. However, after facing criticism for their costumes, Hampshire removed the social media post and issued an apology.
In a picture that has since been removed, Emily Hampshire had donned fake tattoos and a suit resembling the one Johnny Depp wore during his court appearance in 2022. Her friend had taken on the role of Amber Heard, portraying a sad demeanour.

In a statement, Hampshire expressed her regret over one of the most thoughtless, insensitive, and ignorant actions she had ever taken. For Halloween, she made the ‘stupid’ decision to dress up as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, believing it would be humorous. She conveyed deep sorrow and shame for her actions, acknowledging that putting such insensitivity out into the world was a grave mistake.
Hampshire expressed regret for making light of domestic abuse and trivialising the issue. She emphasised that domestic abuse is a serious matter that should never be made light of, as it involves real people and real issues. She made it clear that she genuinely regrets her behaviour and pledged to do better in the future. She concluded her statement with an apology, stating, 'I'm so sorry.'

It's worth noting that Amber Heard and Johnny Depp had both made allegations of domestic abuse against each other during a defamation trial in which Heard ultimately lost. Depp had sued Heard for $50 million, claiming defamation related to her 2018 Washington Post op-ed about sexual violence. Following the trial's outcome, Heard relocated to Madrid, Spain.
