Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of Elon Musk, recently shared that her father had been "uncaring" and "cruel" towards her, particularly in relation to her being queer and feminine. She also posted a series of tweets exposing her father for the transphobic lies he has recently spread about their relationship.
In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Vivian, 20, described Musk as "cold," "very quick to anger," and "narcissistic." She revealed that he was often absent and would "harass her for exhibiting feminine traits," even pressuring her to appear more masculine by pushing her to deepen her voice as early as elementary school.

The interview came as a response to recent remarks made by Musk regarding her transgender identity. In an interview with Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson streamed live on X, Musk used Vivian’s birth name, an act known as deadnaming. He claimed that she was "dead, killed by the woke mind virus," and alleged that he had been "tricked" into authorising gender-affirming care for her. He further insisted that Vivian was "born gay and slightly autistic" but was "not a girl."
Vivian asserted that her father's comments had "crossed a line." She countered that Musk "knew what he was doing when he agreed to her treatment" when she was 16. She believed her father assumed she would remain silent, but she decided to speak out because "if you’re going to lie about me, like, blatantly to an audience of millions, I’m not just going to let that slide."

Vivian has generally stayed out of the public eye. Her last major media attention was in 2022, when she filed to change her name and, in the process, publicly denounced her father. At that time, she stated in a court filing that she no longer lived with Musk and did not "wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form."
During her recent interview with NBC, Vivian shared that she had not spoken with her father in about four years and refused to be defined by him. Wilson described her father's presence during her childhood as minimal, estimating he was around "maybe 10% of the time." She added, "That's generous. He had half custody, and he was not fully there. It was just a fact of life at the time, so I don’t think I realised just how abnormal an experience it was."
Vivian is one of six children Elon Musk shares with his ex-wife, Justine Wilson. In addition to these six children, Musk has three children with singer Grimes and three more with Shivon Zilis.
