On Tuesday, Donald Trump appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court in connection with charges related to alleged payments made to adult film actor Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, in 2016 by Michael Cohen, his former attorney and fixer. Although Trump is still being investigated for other cases in Georgia and Washington DC, this indictment brought forth by the New York grand jury sets a precedent as he becomes the first sitting or former US president to face criminal charges.
Since the 1970s, there have been reports of more than two dozen women accusing Trump of sexual misconduct, including inappropriate groping, rape, and sexual harassment. However, Trump has refuted all the accusations made against him and has referred to those who accuse him as "liars." Additionally, he has insinuated that some of his accusers were 'not attractive enough for him' to engage in any form of assault.
The statements of E Jean Carroll and other women Trump assaulted:
During the trial, a writer testified on Wednesday that she felt "ashamed" and incapable of having romantic relationships after Donald Trump allegedly sexually assaulted her 30 years ago.
Jean Carroll made a statement in Manhattan's federal court, where a lawsuit against the former president for battery and defamation is being heard. She stated she was present at the court only because Donald Trump had raped her.
Carroll, a 79-year-old woman, has sued Trump on the grounds that he sexually assaulted her in a changing room at the Bergdorf Goodman shop in Manhattan in the middle of the 1990s.
Carroll accuses Trump of defaming her after she made the allegations public. Although a photograph of the two of them together exists, Trump denied ever meeting her and refuted the allegations.
Summer Zervos, a previous participant on The Apprentice reality TV show, accused Donald Trump of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour during a meeting that took place in 2007. The allegations were denied by Trump, and Zervos sued him for defamation, but the legal case was ultimately dismissed by the court.
According to Jessica Leeds, Donald Trump allegedly groped her during a flight in the 1980s. Rachel Crooks, a former receptionist at Trump Tower, accused Trump of kissing her without her consent in 2005. Alva Johnson, who worked on his 2016 campaign, claimed that Trump also kissed her without permission. However, Johnson withdrew her lawsuit in 2019 due to safety concerns and the judge's dismissal of the relevance of Trump's prior behaviour.
