After a six-day nightmare that began with a sleep in her favorite hiding area, a Utah housecat and her parents were reunited recently. Unintentionally, Galena the calico was delivered all the way to an Amazon fulfillment center in Jurupa Valley, California—in the very package she had sneaked into.
The cat, owned by Carrier and Matt Clark, adores sitting in crates just as much. However, this time her quiet, reserved nature overcame her, and she had to use all nine of her lives to remain in the box for six days without food or water.
How did the cat reunite with her parents?
She was found at Jurupa Valley by an employee, who then informed their manager, Hunter Brandy, the returns manager, who also happens to be a cat lover and does volunteer cat fostering and rescue. Even though she wasn't working that day, she nevertheless turned up "with a cat carrier and some food."
"She gradually became accustomed to me and allowed me to stroke her," Hunter stated in her Amazon statement. "I took her home that night because I could tell by the way she was acting that she belonged to someone."
The Clarks had been in a great deal of distress during this entire period as they had witnessed their cat disappear completely. They spent hours searching the area around their house, posting flyers in their Lehi neighborhood, calling friends, and notifying neighbors, but ultimately there was nothing more they could do.
Eventually, Hunter took Galena to the veterinarian to ensure that the animal was recuperating from her experience and to have her microchipped. After Galena was microchipped, Carrie initially mistook a phone call for a joke. The following day, the couple took a plane to California to bring their cat home, and they were thrilled to meet Brandy, whom they only knew by her first name.
Clark said she ran to inform her husband about the rescue and the couple "broke down upon realising that she must have jumped into an oversized box that we shipped out".
“It was an amazing reunion! Galena instantly stopped shaking and relaxed in my arms when I got to hold her again,” Clark said.
