How Gislayne lost her father

As confirmed by Metro, Gislayne's father Giraldo Jose Vicente De Deus was shot at a bar 20 years ago where he used to frequent. The story goes Giraldo was playing pool with his friend in a local bar in February 1999, when he was suddenly confronted and immediately threatened by a man named Raimundo Alves Gomes over a 20-pound debt. Gomes was very persistent in gaining immediate payment and did not comply with Deus's offer to settle over a freezer. Things took a violent turn sooner than expected and Giraldo was shot in the head.

Law-and-Order in the hands of the daughter

In the year 2016, an arrest warrant was issued in the name of Gomes but he was able to flee the country and get rid of the punishment.

This was unacceptable to Giraldo's daughter in the equation. She set out to take things in her hands, quite literally. She began studying law at the age of 18. Her professional journey and personal quest for justice gained momentum when she was admitted to the police force. Soon, she was assigned to the General Homicide Division. After spending years in search of her father's killer, she finally traced him on a farm in the Nova Cidade region near Boa Vista.

He has been behind bars since September 25 this year.

"You are now going to pay" killer was told

After this heart-wrenching and time-staking quest of 25 years ended, and Gislayne finally got hold of 60-year-old Gomes, she told him, "It's because of me you're here. You are now going to pay."

Gislayne also revealed to the media that she had a rather emotional awakening after catching her father's killer. She reminisced about her father saying how he was an honest and hard-working individual. They were a close-knit family and post the father's demise, she and her sister had a series of breakdowns. They were utterly heartbroken. She broke out into tears. "I had accepted that this day might not come," she said.
