This American woman adopted a girl with Down syndrome from India last year, celebrated the first anniversary of their journey together and shared a touching video of the same on Instagram. Watch here.
In the video, Megan shared, "The past year has been brimming with laughter, love, and optimism for the future," as the accompanying text described.
As reported, Megan included a heartfelt caption in which she wrote, "In October 2022, we became parents to the most spirited, playful, and incredibly beautiful 'baby' girl, born in India. She is bright, possesses the most generous heart, and happens to have an extra chromosome."
"She was the missing piece in our family's puzzle, and we are immensely grateful to have shared a full year together. I wasn't sure what kind of video to create, so here's some never-before-seen footage from our arrival in the United States and a compilation of our life with our beloved Ami girl."
The video montage features the girl engaging in activities with her siblings and mother. It captures moments of her riding on her brother's back and displaying curiosity toward a Mickey Mouse toy.
Story Of Adoption
Megan, a mother of two boys, adopted her daughter in October of the previous year and gave her the name Ami. They met their daughter for the first time in 2022 and embarked on a journey from India to the United States to start their life together as a family of five.
Ami suffers from Down syndrome and was born in India.
Netizens Reacts
Some came out and appreciated Megan for her act and open-heartedness, while some pointed out the irony that there are several children in the US who require a home too.
One user wrote, "Adopting special kid means you are simply awesome. Kudos!" Another person from India commented, "My heart melts while watching this. Love from India."
One calling out the couple wrote, "We have a very large pool of American kids, right here in the US that also need homes. Please think of them. I know about how much easier it is to adopt outside the United States, but our American kids need families also."
