Love defies time and age and this heartwarming story is a testament to that. Proving that love knows no bounds and always finds its way, a 78-year-old man proposed to his high school crush after an astounding 63-year wait.
Thomas McMeekin and Nancy Gambell were high schoolmates. Thomas developed a crush on Nancy right away, however, life had brewed different stories for them. They ended up in different colleges and married other people. But it seems like they were destined to meet after all.
The two attended their 50th high school reunion ten years ago. But, as they were still married to other people at the time, their interaction was casual, limited to greetings.
After a decade at their sixtieth school reunion, McMeekin contacted Gambell, amazingly both were single and with time grew close to each other.
The surprise proposal
McMeekin resided in the Tampa Bay area, while Gambell lived in California. This year, after a decade had passed since their last encounter, fate brought them together again.
After reconnecting, both realised that their feelings for one another were still strong after all this time. Unwilling to let this chance pass him by, McMeekin surprised Nancy with a sweet proposal at the airport.
An emotional Gambell, surprised by the proposal, accepted it.
Onlookers cheered as McMeekin got down on his knees and asked Gambell to marry him. The video capturing their heartwarming proposal has gained significant attention on social media.
On Wednesday, the well-known Instagram account @majicallynews shared a clip of McMeekin's proposal, which quickly went viral.
